 Feeling a Bit Nostalgic . . .
but i'm feeling too lazy to write anything serious, so i made a list.

Golden Gardens 2005 - so while cleaning some old stuff off my computer, i ran across some pictures from waay back, thus the nostalgic mood.  lots of good ones: shirt o' shirt of shame, anwar will you marry me (or be my life partner)?, proposing to steve at new china, and pics of jeff lam looking even younger than he does now . . . haha.  but i've chosen this one to share.  only two and a half years ago, but kozu looks like he's about 12.

.

Pedagogy of the Oppressed - best book i've ever had to read for school.  easily in my top 5.  i've read it three times this semester, and i'm still wrestling with what Freire says.  btw, school is wonderful.  i'm learning so much about what i don't know, but am excited to know more about . . . i feel like such a green horn and kid in my cohort, but it's great being able to sit and learn from elders and those who've gone before me.  it's been very humbling and very refreshing at the same time.  but back to pedagogy . . . go read it now if your looking for a good kick in your conscientizacao

Some Musical Men
. . . who've been good to me lately.  and don't judge me, garth brooks is totally legit.  in fact, after some good exposure to country music, i've decided i like it.  the music is ok, but it's great story telling and soulful.  and david crowder . . . he's one funny looking dude.

No Woman, No Cry . . . Bob Marley
    More Than a Memory . . . Garth Brooks
    Good Morning . . . Kanye West
    Cry Mercy . . . David Crowder

Mom in Thailand - yes, my mom is back at it in Chiang Mai.  she and a group from presby are on a medical mission trip.  they'll be gone for ~2 weeks.  please be praying and check out their blog:  seattle2zoe  weird that my mom'll be living in thailand soon . . . better start saving up those air miles . . .

Home - i've been moving around lately . . . and have traveled to a lot of places i never thought i would (i'll save these stories for another blog).  in less than 2 weeks i'm headin back to seattle for my longest home stay since i left.  I'M PSYCHED.  i haven't seen some of you for what seems like ages (years even for some!), and i'm really looking forward to coming home and sharing some stories and coffee.

please call me so we can hang out.

A Few Last Things . . .
    1.  i got a hair cut 2 weeks ago.  didn't cut it for several months before that.  so don't worry, it's under control now.
    2.  no.  i am NOT dating my roommate annette.  we just had kim chee together.  that's it.
    3.  i really don't want to get facebook, there's so much freedom apart from it . . . but the pressure to rejoin is building.  *sigh*
    4.  it's now 2:30am.  perhaps it's time for bed - but i've been having trouble sleeping lately.
    5.  ochazuke nori has been my staple food for the past 3 months - and i'm still not tired of it.  mmmmm . . .
    6.  yes, i'm still a vegetarian.
    7.  it snowed yesterday, and i sat outside drinking tea and reading the Psalms - perfect.
    8.  the end.

good night,
chris

hey :) long time no talk, but i happened to read your last entry and noticed that your mom is partnering with ZOE in thailand!! i went on a short term missions trip with my home church to Chiang Mai with Zoe this past summer!! in fact one of the missionary couples that live at the Zoe home (Greg and Nancy Nakamura) are from my home church, and i believe Carol Hart is as well...anyways, i clicked on the blog (seattle2zoe) and just reading the few posts there brought tears to my eyes...i will be praying for her and the team. i know when i was there the prayers of people standing in the gap on our behalf and on behalf of the people of thailand really held us up. God is soo soo amazing...He continually rocks my world.

so, you said your mom is moving to thailand? is she going to be helping Zoe? how exciting!! the country of thailand and the great need for Jesus there breaks my heart, but then i look at my own life and the typical life here in america and i see the great need for Jesus as well.

i'll stop typing, but i hope you are doing well.

Good to hear from you Brother!  Let me know when you're back in town!

No more Vietnam's Pearl though . . . it became a Chinese buffet . . . that didn't last very long . . . don't know what it is anymore.

can we be friends?  i'll have to look up the answer to that in my enneagram book ... if not, we may have to cancel the holiday concert.

1 time when i took the test I came out as a 1, but I think that's more the result of Asian culture than actual personality.
